Life at the Holt Home: Purpose, Connection, and Quiet Joy

seniorCrafts

At Craft Care Homes, we understand that for a resident, “home” isn’t defined by the size of the lobby, but by the richness of the afternoon. Our Holt, MI location is specifically designed as a “larger small home” where activities are intimate, accessible, and never overwhelming.

A Weekly Rhythm of Engagement We’ve curated a schedule that balances cognitive stimulation, spiritual grounding, and simple, tactile pleasures.

Acoustic Connection: Twice monthly live guitar sessions provide a sensory-rich environment that often unlocks memories and encourages spontaneous social interaction.

The “Small Scale” Advantage: Whether it’s Weekly Bingo or Trivia, our limited capacity ensures that no resident is a face in a crowd. Everyone has a seat at the table and a voice in the room. Tactile Creativity: From seasonal card decorating to the scent of freshly iced cookies, our crafts focus on the “home cooked” experience that Vera and Donald Craft, our founders, envisioned when they opened the first home in 1958.

Spiritual Grounding: Our weekly Bible Study provides a space for reflection and community, honoring the Christian values many of our residents have held their entire lives.

Why Small Home Activities Matter: In large institutional facilities, residents can face “cognitive overload”, too many people, too much noise, and a sense of being lost in the program. At Craft, our activities happen in “cozy nooks” and residential living rooms, where the environment remains calm and the focus stays on the individual.
